Jewelmer 2015
Over the course of several years I have had the chance to work closely with the Brenallec Family to help tell the story of Jewelmer and the Golden South Sea Pearls that they farm.
On isolated islands in the Philippines Jewelmer has created communities around their pearl farms. The isolation is necessary as the oysters they breed only flourish in the purest of ocean waters.
I have photographed on the pearl farms on several occasions for different clients but it was on assignment for Grid Magazine that I got the chance to dig deep into the story of the farms and the people that live there.
Living on the islands weeks and months at a time, supplied regularly by helicopter and ships, the men and women of the farms as quick to smile.
